2014 Fishel-Calhoun Article Prize

The Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era (SHGAPE) is accepting submissions for its biennial competition for the Fishel-Calhoun Prize for the best article dealing with any aspect of United States history between 1865 and 1917. The prize is open to new scholars, defined as graduate students or any scholar who has not yet published a book. The article must have appeared in a journal dated 2012 or 2013. The winner of the prize will receive $250 and is asked to serve on the next Fishel-Calhoun Prize Committee. An article may be submitted for consideration by the author or by others (e.g., a journal editor).

Deadline: December 15, 2013.

The prize will be awarded at the SHGAPE luncheon at the OAH meeting, Atlanta, April 10-13. BY DECEMBER 15, 2013, please submit the article, a copy of the table of contents of the issue in which it appeared, and a current email address for the author. We strongly encourage electronic submissions (preferably as PDFs) or alternatively you may send three off-prints or photocopies. Questions and entries should be directed to:
